Trump Confronts Canada’s New PM Over Trade: “We Don’t Need Their Energy or Lumber”

President Trump welcomed newly elected Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney to the White House today for tense but direct trade talks — and made it clear that America will no longer tolerate unfair deals or economic dependency.

In remarks following the meeting, Trump didn’t mince words: “We don’t need their cars, we don’t need their energy, we don’t need their lumber. We don’t need ANYTHING they have, other than their friendship — and hopefully we will always maintain that.”

That’s the Trump doctrine in a sentence: friendship with strength. The visit came amid ongoing backlash from Canada’s government over the U.S. imposing a 100% tariff on foreign films — a policy Trump implemented to protect American values and industry from foreign propaganda. Prime Minister Carney, a globalist economist with deep ties to the World Economic Forum, had hoped to ease tensions and push Trump toward lifting the measures. He left empty-handed.

Trump made it clear: the American people come first, and our industries will not be sold out for international applause.

As the president continues rebalancing trade with allies and competitors alike, conservatives see this as a strong reminder of how leadership rooted in strength earns respect — and results.
