Trump Bans Dangerous Virus Research with Bold Executive Order

In a major step toward restoring trust in America’s public health system, President Donald Trump signed an executive order Monday banning U.S. funding for gain-of-function (GoF) virus research — particularly research conducted overseas in countries like China and Iran.

The ban comes after years of growing concern — backed by intelligence reports — that the COVID-19 pandemic likely originated from a lab leak at the Wuhan Institute of Virology, a facility that received U.S. tax dollars under prior administrations. President Trump’s action shuts the door on such recklessness once and for all.

“American taxpayers will never again be forced to fund the creation of super-viruses in enemy labs,” a senior administration official said. “This is about national security, scientific accountability, and public safety.”

The order requires agencies like the NIH and HHS to terminate all existing GoF projects and create a strict audit system to ensure compliance. NIH Director Dr. Jay Bhattacharya and HHS Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. praised the president for taking action that many in Washington were too afraid to touch. Critics, mostly from left-wing institutions, have tried to downplay GoF concerns for years. But under Trump’s leadership, political correctness no longer trumps public safety.

This is a promise kept — and a major win for Americans demanding real accountability after the COVID disaster.
